Individual

How should an individual operate?

It starts with understanding what an individual human is and how we came to be. Science can provide this explanation, and more specifically, the process of evolution.

Everything that constitutes a human exists because it was a mutation, that was selected. Biologically these mutations are DNA changes created by UV radiation, copying errors, or just unique combinations during sexual combination. Those mutations that helped that individual human survive are then selected by being passed on to the next generation, while those genes and mutations that do not help with survival do not get passed on(you don’t have kids if you die first).

There is also a layer of behavior or psychological evolution that has occurred, whereby we learn behaviors from our parents or our tribe, or our own experiments, and keep the ones that work.

Most everything that makes a human can be explained through these two mechanisms. Give it a try, take anything that constitutes a human or their behavior and put it to the test.

Eyesight? Helped us see better, hunt better, navigate better.

Hands? Helped us use tools.

Language? Helped us cooperate.

Intelligence? Helped us in several ways.

Anxiety? Fear helps us avoid danger.

Its all accounted for. So applying this basic understanding helps us build a powerful frame to navigate and understand ourselves.

Much of what is seen in spiritual systems has been intuitively built on these principles.

For example, take maslow’s hierarchy

We have covered some of the traits that humans share, but what about the ways that individuals differ from one another? Many factors like race, geography, age, gender, wealth, personality differentiate us.

The more common leftist narratives are all about trying to blur these lines and create equality, yet it is hypocritical in still managing to create certain lines. Overall they are trying to go against nature.

Nature celebrates diversity(mutation), but it also celebrates adaptation and survival (selection). Certain traits will allow certain individuals or groups to perform better in certain areas. This is something we must accept if we want truthful, accurate, and helpful models of nature and reality.

However as always there is some room for nuance, and we must be careful of certain frames, for example on one hand we might see that there are indeed racial correlations to things like IQ, we also shouldn’t overdue it and prescribe one race as being completely superior to another and go down that slippery slope.
