Nations are one of the highest level units of human organization. It can feel overwhelming to try an influence or even keep up with what happens on these scales, but yet it impacts us all, and so we must seek to try and stay informed and involved, even if by proxy representation. In fact this proxy representation is the idea behind a republic, which from an evolutionary standpoint seems to be one of the most balanced systems of governance. Too much democracy means uninformed mob rule, too much monarchy opens the door for tyrants and corruption, so a balanced distribution of representation is the idea. But what is needed along side it is a meritocracy, to make sure the most capable and beneficial leaders are able to work their way up, while harmful and less competent actors are filtered out.
Many other questions factor in to what makes a good nation. How our nations are good, how they could be better. We will seek to explore them here.
